Space Economy Evolution Lab - SDA Bocconi
The space Economy Evolution Lab is devoted to harnessing space technologies in tackling global challenges, especially addressing climate action under SDG number 13. Our latest project exemplifies this commitment. We focused on using Earth observation satellites to enhance early warning systems for natural disasters. This is crucial for regions like Bangladesh, which are prone to floods and cyclones.
Interview
Our research includes an economic and technical review of Earth observation satellites and identifies inefficiencies in current systems that Earth observation can address. With this project, developed together with IFAD (International Fund for Agricultural Development) , our primary goal is to improve early warning systems in Bangladesh.
By analyzing the disaster management cycle, we identify challenges and see how satellite data can improve decision making.
This helps us find where Earth observation can add significant value. We are also working with major satellite service providers to integrate their solutions into existing systems.
This collaboration aims to build strategic partnerships for further disaster preparedness and response. Through this project, the Space Economy Evolution Lab advances technical research and provides strategic insights for future consortia. This will include private operators to enhance early warning systems, ensuring lasting impacts. In summary, the space economy Evolution labs work connecting space technologies and SDG 13 is multifaceted.
We combine economic analysis, technical innovation, and strategic partnerships to improve early warning systems and mitigate climate change impacts.
This project showcases our commitment to using space technology for a better planet. Each pixel you see here holds the power to save lives. At the Space Economy Evolution Lab, we harness this power to protect our planet and its people.
