7 Affordable and clean energy

This image captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-1 mission shows us part of the Dutch province of Flevoland where there is of the Netherlands’ largest wind farms. The strong, almost star-shaped, reflections that can be seen near the shore represent around 86 wind turbines. The wind farm is said to generate approximately 1.4 billion kWh of clean renewable energy per year – comparable to the power consumption of over 400,000 households. Satellite data can be used to improve the efficiency and sustainability of marine renewable energy by assessing wind resources and monitoring protected windfarm territories.
